As we explore the desolate surface of the moon and experience its tranquil, uninhabited environment, our project aims to transform the shopping experience for our customers by redefining the physical space. Located in Tsuen Wan's Citywalk, this project was commissioned by INTIQUE, a women's fashion brand with a focus on retro fashion.

Inspired by the temporary exhibition hall designed by Dutch architect Aldo van Eyck for the Sonsbeek Park sculpture exhibition in the 1960s, the project is themed around a museum on the moon. The sculptural hall is made up of six nearly 4-meter-high parallel walls that curve to form a semi-circular space. Our goal is to use abstract and surreal forms to inspire guests' imaginations of space. Here, patrons can explore and interact along the maze-like path, feeling like they have arrived in an unknown and deserted wilderness.

In our spatial planning, we prioritised the interaction between people, space, and objects. Starting from the circular top light at the entrance, which protrudes downward in a mushroom shape, we created a sense of irregularity in this moon meteorite cave. Its circular border spreads outward, encompassing adjacent air conditioning slots, arc-shaped furniture, and arc-shaped walls, all extending along the diameter of the orbit. The arc-shaped walls that reach the ceiling create a multi-faceted orbit for the space, like a maze, where customers can move around freely. In this undesignated orbit, they may find unexpected goods, meet different customers, and exchange ideas, creating a unique scenario with each visit. The functional rooms such as fitting rooms and storage rooms are located in the outer area of the arc walls.

INTIQUE's products mainly feature black, white, grey, and beige colours, and we used a solid sand-tone colour to highlight the design silhouettes of the clothing. The marble paint has a rough texture, and the store's furniture is composed of irregular shapes such as terrazzo and raw stone, creating a sculptural sense that resembles the dry, desert feeling of the moon. For the plant configuration, a suspended black volcanic rock was placed at the entrance to create the impression of a floating meteorite. Withered wood, moss, and simulated flowers in purple and blue tones were also incorporated to enhance the tough vitality of the space.
