Neutral tones, green cacti, and soft materiality, COAST Coffee’s second branch is located in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. The harmonious interior was inspired by an experience the founder and friends had while exploring the coastline. While sipping on warm coffee, they were captivated by the invigorating coastline where water and land meet surrounded by warm sand, and crisp, fresh air. This led to the creation of COAST Coffee and the slogan, “Life is coast to coast”. The founder envisioned a coffee shop experience that captures the essence of the coastline while authentically connecting people through coffee.

Inside COAST Coffee, natural light, soft earthy tones, and clean minimal furniture set the tone of the space. Emphasising lighter tones, the colour palette includes white, beige, green, and bright oranges to communicate a sense of calm and clarity. The interior immersed in beige simulates a sand texture creating the impression of being on the coastline. A distinctive element of the cafe is a curving built-in bench with upholstery in vibrant orange, strategically constructed to resemble the shape of the coastline.

Active and rhythmic, the bench creates dynamic movement throughout the space that flows organically toward the service counter. Next to the service counter are easily accessible products from coffee beans to merchandise on recessed wall shelves that blend seamlessly into the wall. Above, soft, dim track lighting highlights the back wall, evoking a serene sensation of being on the coastline at dusk, layered with natural textures of lush green cacti nestled in smooth sand. Situated above, arched custom-made asymmetrical mirrors effectively expand the space. Beige wicker chair seating together with smooth marble countertops adds warmth, inviting individuals or a collective to stay for long periods of time to fully unwind.

The natural and organic elements of the cafe interior entice the senses while speaking to the beauty that lies in the natural coastline landscape. A representation of life as a state of constant change and movement, COAST Coffee is just one stop where guests have the opportunity to fully embrace the present moment in a relaxing atmosphere while enjoying a cup of coffee with friends.
